Where we had specialty coffee and ate in Mauritius

We all know that Mauritius is an expensive destination, but when you get there and start to explore the island, you start to encounter people, you have chats with locals, they give you pieces of advice, and you realise that it’s not as expensive as you thought, and it’s actually a pretty nice island.

But first of all, before any travel, don’t forget to buy insurance, just to be sure that you are covered in case of any event. With this link, you will get 5% discount for HeyMondo travel insurance.

We drink specialty coffee at:

  1. Drink Kind Coffee Shop, La Gaulette. They have coffee beans from Bluebird Coffee Roastery in South Africa
  2. Jiva Coffee and Roastery, La Preneuse. They are roasting their own beans, and they are doing an amazing job.
  3. Coffee Shore, Tamarin Bay. They have coffee beans from Jiva.
  4. Passion Coffee, Grand Baie. They had coffee beans from Kuumba, a local roastery, but I think they upgraded to Bluebird. For non-espresso, they had it from Speicherstadt Kaffeerosterei in Hamburg.

Where we ate:

In La Gaulette:

  1. Chez BB (not always open as shown on Google Maps)
  2. Le Benitier
  3. LaKot kwizinn

In Flic-en-Flac:

  1. Farata AKA Vinoda (food truck on the beach)
  2. Chez Francoise, Tamarin Bay (food truck on the beach)

In Trou aux Biches:

  1. L’ile cuisine chez Mario, Mon Choisy (food truck on the beach)
  2. Chez Vanessa, Pereybere (food truck on the beach)
  3. Tariq Snack, Triolet
  4. Veggie parathas from Winners supermarket in Pereybere

In Trou d’Eau Douce:

  1. Indian Saveurs, Mahebourg
  2. Pizza at Sands Grill, Ile aux Cerfs

Sometimes, we ate meals, especially breakfast and dinner, at home. We bought vegetables, greens, eggs, yoghurt, bread, and cheese from the supermarket and prepared them in the apartment.
